Inside Our Classrooms
They say don't judge a book by its cover, and the same is true of judging a school by the building. While New Emerson may be located within the walls of a 1930s-era building, it is nothing but a 21st century school inside. We are a 1:1 campus with Chromebooks for every teacher and learner. We use technology as one of our many tools for teaching and learning. Come check out our grade level classrooms below. We have one classroom for each grade level with a maximum of 24 students per classroom. There is a full-time teaching assistant at the kindergarten level and a part-time teaching assistant in grades 1-5.

Meet Ms. Shannon
Shannon has been teaching kindergarten at New Emerson for 22 years. In fact, she was a student teacher in Ms. Terry Schmalz's classroom — before Terry took over as principal. Shannon is a fantastic teacher with tremendous talent, kindness, and never-ending love and patience for our youngest learners.

Meet Ms. Holly
Ms. Holly has been a valuable volunteer at New Emerson every since her oldest son started kindergarten here seven and a half years ago. Since then, she has also worked on campus as a substitute teacher, and this year, Holly was hired on as the new kindergarten paraprofessional capacity. Together, she and Ms. Shannon make an excellent team.

There is no "i" in Team
At New Emerson, students work in teams ... A LOT. It's part of our culture. We want to prepare learners to work with people of all kind as they learn to build a better world together.
